LG has displayed its new range of HDTVs at the CES 2012, back in January, and a few of those models have already hit the market.
The star of LG’s line-up was the giant 55EM9600 OLED TV, measuring 55-inches in screen size. The company has announced that this one will be rolling out in May, although many people have doubts that it’s exactly the same display that the company showed off at the CES.
LG’s 55EM9600 OLED TV weighs only 17 pounds and comes in a space-saving and ultra-thin profile. You’ll be able to find enhanced 3D capabilities with this OLED display, as it features an increased performance and faster response time in comparison to any other technology currently available on the market. The OLED technology doesn’t require any backlight as each pixel provides its own light source. This allows a slimmer profile, while still delivering increased contrast, deeper blacks and wider viewing angles.
There are many advantages to the OLED technology over LCD or LED, for example, although they do come at a cost.
We’ll just have to see how this first OLED panel will perform once it’s released, in May of this year.
