Anyone in UK looking for a budget Android smartphone might be glad to know that Vodafone has a worthy candidate that’s ready to hit the market hard.
The Huawei Ascend G300 will begin selling sometime this summer and until then we just have some specs and a picture released today by Vodafone as a teaser for their new smartphone.
First thing that might capture your attention when you look at the Ascend G300 is a huge 4-inch screen, although it’s rather limited by a 480×800 resolution. It will still perform pretty well even under these circumstances and the display is pretty big, especially for a budget smartphone.
The Huawei Ascend G300 is powered by a single core 1GHz processor that will make apps run pretty decent, although a bit of lag is to be expected. The 5-megapixel camera on the back will most likely be enough for many people and you’ll be able to take some decent pictures and store them on the 2.5GB of internal storage space available. Of course, if you want, you could opt for the extra storage space by purchasing and SD card up to 32GB.
Vodafone UK claims this one will not disappoint in terms of battery life, but we’ll just have to see about that. If that’s true, it might soon become a best deal for an entry-level Android smartphone.
The design is not bad at all, it doesn’t look at all cheap and comes with a chrome finish to support an elegant look. You’ll get three touch sensitive controls under the screen and power and volume controls on the side of this handset.
The Huawei Ascend G300 will roll out this summer powered by Android Gingerbread, however Vodafone UK promises a Android 4.0 very soon after.
All in all, it looks like a great entry-level smartphone available for a reasonable price this summer, so you’d better save up a bit so you can run to the store immediately after its release.
Vodafone UK will offer the Ascend G300 to Pay-As-You-Go costumers for £100, but you will have to pay £10 up-front. You can get it for free if you choose a two year contract for £15.50, including 100 minutes, 500 text messages and 250MB of mobile data.
