Gaming laptops are probably the most powerful machines you can find right now and aside from top-notch performance you usually get a wicked design as well. This also applies to the new Alienware M18X R2 laptop coming from Dell at the end of this month. This one is a high-end machine for gamers and we’ve got word that the specs have leaked online.
Usually leaked specs 10 days before launch mean great publicity for a product and this seems to be the case right now, with the Alienware M18X R2. All companies know this and usually there’s a poorly taken photo that let some details slip out, but not all of them at once, just enough to increase excitement among fans and prepare others for the new release.
From the revealed specs we can notice that this one truly is a 2012 gaming machine, and the teaser works like a charm in its case. The source is pretty reliable as well so we believe these specs will be confirmed upon launch.
First off, let’s start by saying that the M18X R2 is a 18.4” notebook. The display seems large enough for this one to lose its notebook name, however Dell insists that this one is a notebook. A large screen supported by great technology can only lead to a wonderful experience with this machine.
The Alienware M18X R2 comes with a 18.4” screen featuring a Full HD LCD White LED glossy surface and is powered by either a 2.3Ghz i7-3610QM, a 2.6Ghz i7-3720QM or a 2.7Ghz i7-3820QM. The three processors offer pretty good performance and the company says there might ne Extreme Edition i7 processor in the future coming with the Alienware M18X R2.
Graphics will be handled by either a two Radeon HD 7970M, two GeForce GTX 675M or two GeForce GTX 660M working together in either Crossfire or SLI for top notch graphic performance on the huge 18.4” screen.
Of course, a high-end gaming machine couldn’t lack advanced storage options and what better way to provide that than with the SSD technology. SSD storage comes in a few options, including 56GB/512GB Samsung PM830 (SATA III/7mm/2.5”) and 32GB/64GB Samsung PM830 (SATA III/mSATA) or 512GB Micron C400. These SSD drives will enable faster booting times when you install your OS on them.
The Alienware M18X R2 comes with DDR3 memory running at 1600Mhz or 1866Mhz as for extra features, you’ll get a WirelessHD card. This feature will allow you to stream videos to a receiver with Wireless HD.
Dell hasn’t released any pricing information for the Alienware M18X R2 but from the spec list we can understand that it will be quite expensive.
